Welcome to my online gerbil, hamster, knitting diary. Enjoy your stay!
I will be posting mostly about my gerbils and hamster but other thoughts will occassionaly creep in like my knitting.
) It's darling though!
Holly Robinson Cookson appears with copies her brand-new book, The Gerbil Farmer's Daughter, which tells the story of America's largest and most successful gerbil farm. Kirkus Reviews writes: "Journalist Robinson cheerfully recalls growing up with a closeted gerbil-breeder....It’s a scenario that could have been lifted from a 1960s sitcom, but Robinson invests the narrative with pathos, good-natured moments of absurdity and plenty of keen humor....Daffy yet sweet and affecting." A remarkable story in the history of our beloved pets told with sparkling humor and affection!
In order to better serve the traditionally large public turn-out, we will break the Pet Class into two segments. The morning class (11:30 am-12:30 pm) is targeted toward younger children (ages 8 & under) and uses our traditional "Best Whiskers" format to acknowledge the things that make each gerbil special with a blue ribbon for every gerbil. The afternoon segment (1:30-3:30) will feature a Mock Show for gerbils owned by kids ages 9 & up. Trained AGS Asst. Judges (youth members ages 11 and up who have taken Judges' Training) will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Pet Class ribbons to pet gerbils, judging them by color class using the AGS Standards, exactly like the breed show. The Jr. Judges will describe the characteristics of the winning gerbils. This mock show will be an excellent chance for older children interested in showing gerbils to learn what makes a winning gerbil in a less-competitive, educational event.
Register for the Pet Class at the AGS Show site
Rebecca Azer of Gerbil Parade will speak about rabbit care and the joy of owning a bunny. Meet Elvis and hear all about how much a fun a bunny can be!

A GERBIL SNOWFLAKE!
Merry Gerbil Christmas and a Furry New Year! My wonderful little gerbil boys made me this wonderful gerbil snowflake. It is so cute! Spot is my maniac gerbil chewer. He did most of the work. Little Bear helped. This is wonderful way to have your gerbils interact with the kids. Fold up a piece of whit computer papers. Have the gerbils chew for a couple of minutes and VIOLA! A Gerbil Snowflake
I finally found a patten to make little knitted gerbil stuffies/toys. They are turning out so cute. I have been good reviews. Here are pictures of my first two gerbils. It is a variation on a bunny pattern. Instead of a 6 inch square, I like using a 4 1/2 inch square. I tried 4 inches on the rust colored one. Looks a little small. The white cotton in 4 1/2 inches seems to hold better. I will be making a knitting webpage on how to make these gerbils. What do you think of them. I an planning on selling them at the 2008 American Gerbil Sociey Gerbil Show in May in Nasuha New Hampshire.

Honeybear (gerbil on left) recently passed on leaving buddy alone. We got two new babies on November 30th to keep Buddy company. 2 - 5 week old pups. We named them Spot and Simon. A week later, Simon became Simone. So now we are getting two more pups. One for Simone and another little boy for Buddy. Pictures will be posted for the new pups soon.
The introduction of Buddy and Honeybear went very well. They are the best of friends. Check out the Pet Pictures to see them from the main website.
I have been doing Weight Watchers At Work program. I have also been knitting lately. I am on a stuff animal kick right now. The knitting keeps my mind off food. So does the gerbils and Henry the hamster.
At work, I am in class learning Sharepoint 2007. I am in a small depression right now. Don't really care about anything right now.
That's about it for now.
